SESSION TOPICS
JANUARY: REDEFINING LEADERSHIP
Questions for Exploration: What constitutes leadership? How can we use the Key Principles of NVC to inform our leadership? How do you personally feel called to express your leadership with NVC consciousness? What stumbling blocks do you foresee around this vision? Where are you stuck? In terms of your leadership, what would growth look like for you? What about support? How will you leverage your community to support your personal leadership?
FEBRUARY: INCLUSION & EMPOWERMENT
Questions for Exploration: How do we hold the “I,” “you,” and “we” simultaneously as leaders? How do we hold empathic presence for “I” and “you” in order to care for the “we”? Why is vulnerability important? How do we model self-connection & vulnerability in “we” spaces? How do we acknowledge historical context, structural power, rank and privilege in our interactions? How do we maintain a sense of our individual mattering, especially within the “we”? How do we make requests to support our sense of mattering? How do we invite others to do the same?
MARCH: MINDSET & RESILIENCE
Questions for Exploration: How do our underlying beliefs influence our actions, especially our unconscious beliefs? How do we surface and and reframe our life-alienating beliefs through the lens of NVC? How do we partner with our fear so it becomes our greatest ally? How do we hear underneath others’ fears & life-alienating beliefs, so as not to take them on? What processes can we use to support ongoing clearing of our life-alienating beliefs? How do we consistently tune in to our felt sense & intuition, rather than our thoughts?
APRIL: BEFRIENDING CONFLICT
Questions for Exploration: What role does conflict play (inside of us, in our relationships, and in groups & systems)? How do we harness the positive, creative force of conflict and use it to benefit everyone? How do we build a culture of needs awareness in the spaces we spend time in? How do we maintain self-connection and equanimity while navigating conflict? How do we slow down and tend to as many needs as possible in moments of challenge? How do we mediate for others, especially when we aren’t explicitly in the role of mediator?
MAY: TRUTH & COURAGE
Questions for Exploration: Why is feedback important? How do we offer feedback consciously? What role does feedback play in emotional safety & trust? What comes up for you when you think of giving feedback? What about receiving it? How do we practice giving and receiving feedback in ways that serve us & others? How do we exercise self-responsibility by speaking up about things we’d like to be different? How do we transform people-pleasing in order to embody truth & authenticity? How do we enrich our relationships by speaking up about the things we’re appreciating? What are you taking away from your experience in the NVC Leadership Circle? What steps will you take to carry your growth & empowerment forward? What do you need (from this group, and others) to support yourself in doing so?
JUNE: TOPIC TBD BASED ON GROUP INPUT
Questions for Exploration are co-created by the group.
